The girls playing Ruby and Garnet are members of one of many HOP-HOP groups. They presented the book “Double Act” on occasion of one of their lessons with the idea to play parts of the story as a drama exercise.
After discussing the book’s contents with their director Irena Konývková , Irena adapted some parts of the book into a basic script leaving enough room for creativity. The girls were so much inspired by their work that they really wanted to play the whole story. Finally she wrote a new script creating the play of HOP-HOP.
What differs this play from other HOP-HOP groups:
- There are no boys in this play, normally it is a mixed group of youth.
- The play is performed by two girls supported by the director’s voice in the background.
Actually we are 2 people on stage.
